Sometimes getting your child to try something new, like sweet potatoes, can be a challenge. This recipe takes an already delicious dish and makes it even more delicious with a touch of honey and butter. Easy to make, this may become a household favorite.
Today on The Stay At Home Chef I’m showing you how to make Cinnamon Honey Butter Mashed Sweet Potatoes This is one of my favorite ways to eat sweet potatoes You have that cinnamon honey butter goodness and guess what? This is actually super easy to make and only requires a handful of ingredients. To start you’ll need to peel three to four pounds of sweet potatoes and you want the kind of sweet potatoes with the orange flesh like this. Then you’ll want to dice them into little pieces and I like to go rather small so that they’ll cook faster. Then we’ll transfer all of our diced sweet ‘taters into a pot and then we’ll fill our pot with just enough water to cover the tops of the sweet potatoes. Then we’ll place the pot on the stove and bring this to a boil.
Let your sweet potatoes simmer like this for about 15 minutes until they’re super tender Super tender sweet potatoes are much easier to mash and you’ll get a much smoother final result. Once these are super tender we’re gonna drain them Then we’re gonna pour these into a large mixing bowl then we’ll add in 1/2 cup of butter and you can always reduce that if you want to cut some calories 1/3 cup of milk, 1/2 a teaspoon of ground cinnamon and 1/4 cup of honey You can see we have all of our ingredients for our cinnamon honey butter. Then it’s time to mash and the heat from our sweet potatoes will help melt that butter and everything will combine here as we mash. Now if you don’t want to use a potato masher for this you can also use a hand mixer and whip this all together I figure the potato masher it gives me a little bit of workout so I don’t have to feel any guilt when eating these delicious sweet potatoes.
However I do find that using a hand mixer gives a bit of a smoother result in the end. And that’s it! These mashed sweet potatoes are done. I’m going to transfer them to a serving bowl and then we are ready to eat! mmm! So so delicious! They’re smooth … you can taste that cinnamon honey butter mmm! This is a great side dish you could even serve it at Thanksgiving or on your holiday table. It’s so good! Thanks for watching! You can find the full written recipe in the video description.
