How to Make Twinkies

Hey, everyone! It’s Sandra from the Disney CarToys Channel, with Spidey Awesome! And today, we have a super-fun day! We’re making Twinkies! Whoo! I mean, this is so cool! We’ve been waiting forever to make Twinkies. Heheheh! And last summer, I believe we made the. Oh, the Hohos. Yeah. Cupcakes, whatever. We made some other ones, um, so we’re going to do like a taste test. We’re going to make our own. We also can try a little bite of the real Twinkies. That’s right. To see which one’s better. Ours better be better, cause theirs is going to be. They’re homemade. Completely homemade. And you need tons of ingredients. So, like we have all these. Whoo! Ingredients here. Cocoa, baking soda, sugar. Yes. Yeah. Everything, and actually, um, here’s a question for you guys. Make sure to “like” this video and let us know, there’s other recipes. So, you can make regular Twinkies, which we’re going to make today. But, let us know in the comments if you want us to make chocolate Twinkies.

Ooh! Chocolate sounds amazing! Or red velvet Twinkies. Ooh! Isn’t that cool? So, make sure to “like” if you want us the chocolate ones. Yes. Or red velvet, and then vote in the comments which one! Yep! So, let’s begin! Okay. So, the first thing we’re going to do mix a whole cup of sugar. So, this might be why Twinkies taste so sweet.

Mmm! Sugar! A whole cup of sugar, and then, wait for it, wait for it, a whole stick of butter! Oooh!! About a thousand calories! Yeah, this is like, whoo! I mean, tasty, but. Heheh. Not healthy. Not healthy whatsoever. So, now I’ll lift up the Kitchen-Aid, and we’re supposed to cream this, so, oh, wait. Let’s see. We gotta do this. Now we got it. Okay. Dah-dah-dah. Num, num. There we go. Yeah, there we go. That’ll go for a little bit. All righty. So, our next step is to add an egg yolk, which we pre-yolked there.

Just one yolk. One yok, and then two regular eggs, so it’s kind of funny, they’re like. More yolk. One more yolk. I guess it gives it the nice yellowy. Yes. Yeah. That’s probably what makes that so yellow, so, two eggs, two teaspoons of vanilla, so. Nice and vanilla-y. Yeah. That should be really good. Oop! Oh, boy. Ha-ha-ha. I can’t pour! Ha-ha-ha.

It poured everywhere but the spoon. Yeah. It’s weird. Okay. Why? Okay. One. Interesting. I mean, a little extra, and two. That’s okay. Nice and vanilla-y. Yeah. A little more flavor. So, let’s see. There we go. Yeah. It said “mix until it’s corporated. Huhuh. Incorporation. Yes. Huh. All righty. So, now for the meat of it all. Not really. Yeah. Heheh. The meat. The meat. Okay. What’s this? So, we need a cup of, cup and a half of flour, so, one, two, this is going to be messy. Huh. Oh, yeah. Just like in any kitchen. Heheh. I’m excited to see like how this turns out. Hopefully, it turns out well. I know. I’m excited to try it. Heheheh. Yeah! We got three. I haven’t had like a Twinkie in years, like, seriously. Yeah, so.

And then, three-fourths cup of milk. Okay. Let’s see. We need a teaspoon of baking powder. Perfect. There we go. And then, uh. Half teaspoon of salt. A half teaspoon of salt. Just for a little flavor extraction. Yeah. Yes. Here we go. Ha-ha-ha! There we go. Beautiful. Ta-dah!! And then, they said, mix it on low speed. Okay. Until it’s corporated. Huhuh. Hopefully. All right. So. There we go. Now it’s making a nice batter. Yeah. It’s looking really good. Ooh! Oh yeah, and then, next, we plug in our Twinkie maker! Whoo! Whoo! And spray with vegetable oil, which I actually already did, and then fill each cavity three-fourths full.

Oh, okay. Cool! We’re almost there! Yeah, so we’re pretty much done with the batter, almost. Yeah. So, let’s mix for a sec. Okay. So, here’s our lovely Twinkie Maker. Nice and hot! It has a red light, meaning that it’s ready. You can see it there. Yeah. It’s like ho…there you go. There it is. Um, let’s open this thing up. I put everything in here to pour it easier. We shall. Whoa! Ooh! It’s already cooking right now. It’s ready. It’s like three-quarters full? I don’t know. Okay. And then. It’s pretty good. That. This is cool, and you cook it for four to seven minutes. Oh, so pretty quick, actually. Yeah! I’m impressed. Okay. There we go. Let’s sort you in here, and then I need more. Hold on. Huhuh. Okay. There’s this. Okay. Homemade Twinkies! I know! Isn’t that funny? Ha-ha-ha-ha. This is like the upper-class Twinkie. Ha-ha-ha-ha. Here we go, so let’s close it up. And in closing anything that you make in like a waffle make type thing like this, it kind of uses steam to cook it.

Oh! And so, they’re like, they’re kind of like our cupcake, you know, so it kind of stays more moist. I feel like, you know, the heat is trapped in. Cool! So, it’s a lot more moist. That’s like very. Okay. I have the green light. Oh, yeah. Let’s set our timer. Okay. So, it has been five minutes. I’m gonna just check. See the steam, though? That’s kind of cool. Okay. So, let me open this up. Oh, cool!! Wow!! That’s really cool! Okay. Wait. We need something. Ooh! To take this out with. Let me get a fork. Okay. This looks really good. I’m gonna use this knife. Another thing they did tell you not, how to not do is how to take this out. Yeah, how do I take this thing out? Ooh, what’s that like? Ooh. Oh, yeah. Scary. Let’s see. Oh, okay, wait. I have an idea. Let’s just flip it. Uh, huh. Oh! Yes! We can totally flip it! Oh, it’s totally gonna get grease everywhere, now.

Um. Oh yeah, we’ll go like this. Yeah. Close it, and then flip it like. Yeah. A waffle maker. Okay. There we go. Okay. Wait. Hold on. It’s happening! Heheh! It’s happening! This is like probably what you should not do. Heheheh! Here’s NOT what to do. See, this one’s kind of gooey! Ew! Yeah! It’s really not cooked. That ain’t right. Huhuh. Longer. Yeah. Oh, we’re gonna die. Heheheh. Okay. So, here’s this. So, let’s get you back in. Yep. Cook it some more! Still played in, right? Yep.

Still hot. You back in. A few minutes now. Yeah. There we go. Don’t do this at home, what I was doing there, by the way! No. Huhuhuh. Heheheh! Okay. Shouldn’t make it. Yeah. A few more minutes. Okay. So, we’re trying again. Whoo! And it’s nice and crispy, now. So, it should definitely be cooked. Should be cooked. Okay. Get out. Come on. Huhuhuh. Come out! And, I got. Yeah, they honestly, these do look a lot better. Okay, so let me. They should be delicious. Delectable. Yeah. Oh, there we go. So, we gotta cool them, and the good thing is, while we’re cooling them, we can make our little filling. Oh, that’s right! So, nice cream filling! That’ll be nice. So, dah-ta-dah. Yeah.

This is looking really good. Oh, yeah. We have more to make, too. I forgot about that. We do. We have some more batter that we can fill it with. To make it better, so here’s the real. Oh, yeah, see? Twinkie. Um, we’ll taste test at the end. Okay. Okay. The color’s the same. The color is the same, so this is a little wider. They’re both equally fluffy, though. This does feel more greasy, though. Ew. It feels more oily. It’s like you touch it and there’s grease. Eeww! Heheheh. So, you like, touch grease, where ours are not greasy. Ooh! Okay. Yeah. It seems like it. A little healthy here. Heheheh. Yeah, a little healthy. Healthy. Huhuh. All righty. So, now for the vanilla cream filling. Our butter is like super-liguidy. Ooh! Yeah. It melted just a little, especially when we tried to soften it. It’s still soft. Heheheh. Very, very soft now. So, we have that, and then we add Crisco, which I think is kind of gross. I know. Ew! Mmm, lard! So, yeah. Seriously. I’m gonna need six of these. Get out.

There you go. Heheheh! Yeah. Let’s see. Okay. Oily. Yeah. Very oily. Okay. So, now we’re supposed to mix this together. So, it’s like fluffing. Oh yeah. It’s pretty good. Oh, yeah. Looking pretty good. Looks creamed pretty well to me, um. Yeah. Looks pretty good. So, they want you to like turn it down slow. Okay. And then, um, add slowly some powdered sugar. Oh, all right. We need two cups. There we go. So. Nice and pretty! Yes. Okay. So. This is going to make a mess. Okay. So, we have that, and then we need, um, vanilla, which is over that way. Ah, yes. Right over.. here you go. Vanilla. Yeah, and then, um, we need two teaspoons of it.

Two teaspoons. So. It’ll be nice and vanilla tasting. One. It adds a good color to it, too. Oh yeah! Two. There you go, and, oh yeah. We need a cup of corn syrup, too. Okay, so we scrape the sides. Now, we have to put it on high for five minutes. Whoa! Until it’s like really fluffy. So. It’s gonna make it really fluffy. If you need..whoa. Okay.

Yeah. Then, we’re good with that. Yeah, it’s looking really fluffy, so five minutes, and we’ll add in the corn syrup. Okay. so now, we’re adding the corn syrup. We need a few cups of this. Whoo! And it’s like just pure sugar, really. It’s just pure. Absolutely. This is what you make candy like hard candy out of. Yes. Corn syrup. Yes. Okay, there’s one cup. Whoo! And then, we’re supposed to beat it for another two minutes until it’s like mayo. Is that weird? Mayo? Ew!! Hahahah! Yeah. It’s looking, I mean, less fluffy right now. Yeah. Now, it’s more goopy. Its. Yeah. This is what makes Twinkies great to eat. Yeah. This is, this is the sugary part. Huhuh. Okay. So now, I’ll put it…yeah, so like there. Okay. For two more minutes. All right. Oh. Yeah. It’s starting to look like mayo. Yeah! Okay. So, we are done with the mixing. Now, it looks more like frosting. Ooh! Wow! Yeah. It does look like frosting. There you go.

So, these are cool. We let these cool for a while. Um, so now, let’s fill our bag. Be good. Oop. Hold it. I don’t want to miss. Yeah. Hahah. Um. This will be interesting. Yes. Yeah. This is always like the hardest part. Oop. It really is. Wow! This is like really hefty! Whoo! Like very thick! Yes! Eh, let’s do this. Okay. Here we go. Get in there. Now, it’s like not coming off. Get out there. I know, right? Hahah. There we go. Like, whoo! Like, whoo hoo! We’ll like kind of squeeze it. Twist it around. Around, like this. Um hm. It says “Twinkies” on the bag, which is pretty cool. Oh yeah! Okay. So now, okay. We have this ready.

Kind of twist it like this. Yeah. And you can fill’em. Okay. So, this the fun part. We get to inject our Twinkie with this filling. You’re supposed to do it. Blehhh! Three different splace..eh, splaces, spaces. Make some spaces. So, there’s one. Oop, oh, wait. I gotta like squeeze harder. Yep. Like, errr!! Lots of pressure. Huhuhuh. There we go. Whoa, there we go. One. Ooh! You have to kind of like overflowing out a little bit. And, squeeze. Two. And then. Nice and cream-filled. Three, and it’s supposed to be like a total of a tablespoon inside here, and there we go. That’s kind of cool. All right. Yeah! Twinkie-licious! There we go. There is a Twinkie. A homemade one. Yeah! Homemade. Ooh! And now, we’ll do the rest of our Twinkies. It’s kind of cool. cause they’re like crispy on the bottom and really soft on the inside. Yeah. They’re really nice. This cream should really help make it even more.

Sweet. Soft. Yeah. Very sweet. Nice and dessert-like. There we go. Yeah, you can tell like, cause once it’s in here, it’s like really fluffy. Ooh! Inside. Oh yeah. I’m, I’m excited to try them. They seem like really good, actually. Yeah. They seem like, yeah, they should be way better than a regular Twinkie. Heheheh. All righty. So, the moment of truth! The finished product. Yes. So, let’s pick…this one looks good. Hahah. We’ll do our taste test. Yeah, it looks delicious! So, um, let me cut it. So, here’s our homemade one. Oh, yeah! So, okay. So, here’s our cream filling. Oh! Looks really good and like very soft, and then kind of harder there, but spongier on the sides. So, here you go. Ooh! Very nice. There’s that, and then we wait and here’s our. See, this one’s even…oh, see, there’s a lot more cream in those. Oh, wow!! Okay. Yeah. Um, a lot more than a tablespoon I feel like, and this is like lots for me. Yah, that’s a lot. Heheh. So, here. Maybe you don’t want to eat like as much of s real Twinkie. Here we go. Right! Huhuh.

So, let’s taste test it. Okay. So, try. Here’s our homemade. Here’s our homemade, so let’s eat it. Mmm. Mmmm! It’s really good! Yeah. That. Um. Hmm. It’s not super-sweet. No. Like it kind of almost tastes like, like a sweeter corn bread. Is that weird? No. That’s exactly what it tastes like. Oh, okay. Huhuhuh! Um. Hmm. I feel like this is kind of healthier than a regular Twinkie, and it definitely is not as greasy. Um. No. Um-um. It definitely tastes homemade. Um-hm. Yeah. It was really good. It’s not really sweet at all. It’s not…it’s not overly creamy, too, which is good. Ah-huh. Yeah. That’s pretty good.

I like it. Yeah. It’s not bad, and then let me. Hahah. You do like half of one! Taste, like yeah, hahah, the real deal. I know. I haven’t had a real one in a long time. Wow! Hmm. They don’t taste that different. Hmm. Yeah. I guess one is more spongy and a little more sweet. Um-hm. But, I was thinking that it’d be like totally different, but it’s really not that different. I haven’t had a real Twinkie in like ten years. Me too! Hahahah! Yeah, yeah. Wait, wait. Where’s that Twinkie box? It’s been a long time. And let’s see what’s in it. I just have to see how bad these things are for you. Huh. Um. Oh! So, two cakes! So, the serving size is two of these? Oh!! Huhuh.

That’s funny. Two cakes, two sixty calories. Eight grams of fat. So, one of them is just a hundred and thirty calories. That’s actually a lot less than I thought. Huhuh. Yeah. Me too, and then four grams of fat. Oh, lot of carb, though. Whoo! Heheheh. Yeah. Forty three grams. That’s a lot. Sugars, oh my! And then they like two percent calcium, two percent, four percent iron, so. Heheheh. I thought..that’s hilarious. Like, even the serving size. Not, not just one. Two, so. Cause you would totally just eat two. And just, hahah, and not feel bad about it.

Hahahah. Hilarious. Yeah. So this, yeah, good. So, I recommend, and please make sure to vote. Uh, click like if you want us to make a chocolate. Ooh! Or red velvet one, and then vote in the comments, chocolate or vanilla. Chocolate or vanilla! Yummy! .
